The Thane of Kilmorph can be sacrificed to add either 20 culture to a city. Note that this unit never expires.
The Thane of Kilmorph substitutes for a missionary (from vanilla Civ IV) of the Runes of Kilmorph. Like missionaries, it can be sacrificed to spread its religion. Unlike missionaries, Thanes of Kilmorph can also be used for other purposes, including saving a city with very little culture (or at least buying it a few turns), acting as a healer for a stack of units, or even as a weak military unit. Also unlike the Missionary, it can be upgraded.
